This policy describes the information used when you read rentalcarsjapan.com or send its contact form. The site publishes visitor guides; it does not take car reservations, collect rental payments or offer a visitor account. Please send privacy questions through the contact page.

Reading the guides

You can read the pages without providing a name or email address. Your browser must request the page and its assets for them to display. The hosting service receives the technical information needed to serve those requests, such as an IP address, request path and browser information. Security and service records may be used to operate the website and investigate abuse.

The website does not ask for your passport, driving-licence number, rental-payment details or travel dates to open a guide. Do not put those details into site search or an ordinary contact message. A supplier you contact separately may have its own document and reservation process.

Contact messages

The contact form requests an email address and a message. You may also provide a name and subject. We use the submitted details to review the inquiry, investigate the reported content and respond. We do not use a contact submission to add you to an email-marketing list.

An accepted message record includes the submitted fields, the website name, a submission time and a coarse country value supplied with the request. The form service queues accepted messages for delivery to the site’s corrections mailbox. The queue has a 90-day expiry; this is not a promise that every related email record is erased at that exact time.

Correspondence may need to be retained while an inquiry is being handled or where needed for security, a legal obligation or a record of the correction. Avoid including sensitive information that the editor does not need. If you sent unnecessary personal details, identify the message in a privacy request so it can be located.

Spam and abuse prevention

The form uses checks designed to limit automated and abusive submissions. Those checks can use the sending IP address, submission timing and message content. Short-lived rate-limit records help control repeated requests. A message that fails the checks may not be accepted for delivery.

Site search loads an index of the published pages and finds matching guides in the browser. It is intended for a topic such as an airport, a document or a rental condition. There is no need to search with a personal booking reference or document number.

Opening a result requests the selected page from the hosting service in the same way as following another internal link. Search results do not establish a live car quote or send your query as a reservation to a rental company.

Cookies, storage and analytics

No Google Analytics measurement ID is configured for the current site, so the site’s analytics loader does not load Google Analytics. We do not describe analytics as anonymous simply because a name is absent. If optional analytics are enabled later, this policy should identify the service and explain the relevant choices before that use is introduced.

The consent feature may store a browser choice under the local storage key site-consent when a consent choice is presented and selected. Local storage stays in that browser until cleared or replaced. It differs from a contact message sent through the form.

Affiliate buttons also send a first-party, cookieless click record to this site’s /api/click endpoint, identifying the offer and the page it was clicked from. If a landing URL contains campaign labels, the click feature can keep those labels in session storage under click-utm for the tab’s session and include them with later clicks. A click record does not establish a booking, conversion or commission.

You can clear site storage through your browser settings. Browser privacy controls may also restrict storage or requests. Blocking essential requests can affect page features or form submission. The site’s privacy-choice link points to this policy so you can review the current position and contact us about a concern.

Authority and booking-provider links

The guides contain links to official authorities and supplier source pages. If you follow one, that destination receives your browser request and applies its own privacy policy. We do not control the information you then submit to that separate service.

Comparison cards contain affiliate links to DiscoverCars through link.rentalcarsjapan.com, using the Linkly redirect service. Following one sends your browser to the matching merchant page with a referral identifier. Linkly and the merchant can receive technical request information, and outbound affiliate links can set the merchant’s cookies or use other storage to attribute a booking. The destination’s privacy and cookie choices apply when you visit it.
